Two words: ME LIKEY!! Sean Garrett’s been spot on when making tracks for other artists but has been very hit-or-miss (more MISS) when it comes to his own music. This, however, is a great track, very smart and is sure to be a hit with the ladies. I mean, what other rapper to do a freaky track with besides Plies? The rap doesn’t overpower the sensual feeling of the track and Sean Garrett’s vocals aren’t quite as annoying as they usually are. Read the rest of this entry »

Bobby Valentino ft. Nicki Minaj – Stilettos and T-Shirt
I don’t know who produced this, but I’m glad it doesn’t sound like all the rest of Bobby V.’s Tim-and-Bob produced tracks. This joint actually sounds pretty nice, I’d rock this one. At first I thought “Damn, another Nicki Minaj feature?!?” but she’s aight on this joint. Not as much of the dramatic “Jekyll-and-Hyde” type vocals from her. I’d like to see a revival of Bobby Valentino’s career, this might work as a single… Read the rest of this entry »
NEW MUSIC from Estelle ft. Kardinal Offishall – FREAK
Hmmm… I’m not so sure I’m totally in like with this song. Estelle seems to be changing up her flavor a bit with this one, produced by the one of the kings of Euro-club bangers David Guetta. It’s euro-house with a Soul II Soul sampled hook, but for me it’s not that great of a single. Estelle just doesn’t strike me as a club-chick and this seems a bit out of place for her. I’m open to see where she’s going on this new album, but if this is any indication of the rest of the project, NO BUENO. Read the rest of this entry »
VIDEO: Ledisi – Higher Than This
Check out the video for Ledisi’s second single Higher Than This from her latest album Turn Me Loose. The song has an inspirational/R&B feel to it and features mega-producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The video shows Ledisi as a child with dreams of becoming a singer, then expressing her appreciation to God when her dreams are realized. I think it’s a great song and Ledisi is sooooo underrated it’s ridiculous! Check the video… Read the rest of this entry »

I’d like to introduce to some of you The Next Great American DJ: DJ Skillz! The homie iKnowTank introduced me to Skillz a while ago, and I had the opportunity to experience a DJ Skillz party recently. He is THE TRUTH! He had the party rockin’ non-stop with a mix of hip-hop from the 90’s, 2000’s and today. VIDEO: Monica – Everything To Me
Monica pulls a lil bait and switch with this one! Make sure you watch the ENTIRE video for Everything To Me featuring the humorous NFL Star Chad Ochocinco, it doesn’t end the way you’d think!! Monica looks absolutely stunning in this clip and she sounds great!! If this single is indicative of the sound on her new album Still Standing, we’re in for a major treat! I, for one, have been praying she would return to the sound that carried her through the 90’s and it sounds like we’re getting that. Read the rest of this entry »

VIDEO: Kanye West – Coldest Winter
First off, is that Leona Lewis in the video? Looks a lot like her! When I first heard Coldest Winter on the 808’s and Heartbreaks album, I thought it was more about his mom and her passing. But watching this video, I gather a whole new meaning for it. This chilling and very haunting clip seems to speak in metaphors of Kanye’s former fiancee and his feelings surrounding their breakup. Ye is not in the clip at all, but this video tells an excellent story for one of Kanye’s best songs. The video was directed by Nabil Elderkin, who also directed West’s Paranoid video, which featured Rihanna. Spotted at UHTN. QUESTION: What’s your take on this video? Read the rest of this entry »
VIDEO: Mariah Carey – 100%
Remember this song? (click here if you don’t) This one was in the running with Mary J. Blige’s I Can See In Color for the placement of theme song for the movie Precious. Needless to say, Mary J.’s grittier single won. However, Mariah’s 100% has found it’s home as the AT&T theme song for TEAM USA in the Winter Olympics, and I truly feel this is where it fits best.
