Sammie’s dropping a new mixtape (It’s Just A Mixtape – no really, that’s the title!) June 22, so make sure you check back for it. Make Pretend is a track that hit the net which will likely appear on the mixtape. The song is just okay, nothing amazing. My issue with his Swag & B mixtape was that everything sounded like Trey Songz scraps – from the melodies and production all the way down to Sammie’s ad libs. I later found that they have some of the same behind-the-scenes folks. With his new mixtape, I’m hoping he finds his own sound. His voice has a great tone and can be distinctive if he uses it properly. He needs music with more focus on melody, less focus on beats. Make Pretend is okay, the vocals get a bit annoying with that stacked sound, especially since he doesn’t need it. That’s my take on it… you decide…

You sure ain’t lying about this sounding like a Trey Songz knockoff! Sammie isn’t gonna win being a low-rate Trey Songz. Matter of fact, this sounds like a knockoff of a Jeremih song. Which is a horrible thing to say in and of itself.
