Lupe transforms his lyrically superior single ‘Words I Never Said‘ into a powerful new video clip, using his visuals to attack injustices on the political, social and economic landscapes. Directed by Sanaa Hamri, Lupe takes the part of a rebel on a mission to free enslaved/oppressed minds from the propaganda of the media. It’s a little weird seeing Lupe take on the fight scenes, but the video is very provocative as is the song, which features a hook from Skylar Grey. I personally wasn’t a fan of the Lasers album; while I feel it would’ve been a notable project from any regular rapper, I don’t feel the album suited Lupe Fiasco as best it could. The attempts at mainstream airplay were more than obvious. ‘Words I Never Said‘ is one of the few tracks that sticks out to me as a CLASSIC Lupe song, and by that I mean, one that’s tailor-made to fit the rapper.
