With a new single currently making waves all over the internet, Rudy Currence talked with me about his new music, the evolution of his sound, and his forthcoming mixtape that will usher in a new era for his music and his fans. His current single The O.T.H.E.R. is on the rise, produced by the infamous DJ Don Cannon and features a new, more electronic sound for the soul son of the Carolinas.
“It’s just about believing in yourself, being on something different… I’m in a new season in my life and my career and I’m really excited about this time.” Rudy says of the new single. “I took old soulful vintage feels: live instrumentation, real bass and I put that with electronica music like Daft Punk and different artists from that genre and I’m marrying the two together. ” In short, this marriage birthed the sound listeners will hear on the new mixtape Digital/Analog when it hits the net on 11.22.11
Rudy mentioned he’ll be opening his vault and starting a new series of weekly music releases leading up to his anticipated mixtape release.
