NEW MUSIC: Jeremih ft. 50 Cent – Down On Me

Posted by Mack On August - 27 - 2010

Okay Jeremih… not bad on this one! ‘Down On Me‘ actually has some potential to rock in the club – more specifically, the strip club. 50 Cent is an unlikely collaborator, but he does his thing on this joint. Jeremih needed some redemption after this week’s earlier leak of So Gone (Click here to listen). Down On Me just sounds like a party type-anthem and will have a different type of appeal than his previous singles like Birthday Sex and I Like. Jeremih is putting the finishing touches on his sophomore album All About You which is currently scheduled for September 28 release on Def Jam. Read the rest of this entry »

REMIXED: 50 Cent Says ‘F*ck You’ Too

Posted by Mack On August - 24 - 2010

Well, welcome back Curtis! Though it’s been a while since I’d heard anything from 50 Cent, I must admit he goes IN over Cee-Lo Green’s recent release ‘Fuck You’. But the problem with 50 Cent is consistency. I mean, sure he could spit some heat over this remix but when’s the last time he attacked an album like this? Much like pre-Recovery Eminem, 50 Cent lacks inspiration these days and with all his endorsement deals, it would seem he’s outgrown rap – but not too far gone to ignite or rehash a beef with anyone he views as competition. If I didn’t know any better, I’d probably think Kanye is next on 50′s list… again. But what do I know?

50′s short hiatus from rap is likely due to his major role in an upcoming film Things Fall Apart, a film in which he plays a college football player who is diagnosed with cancer. Pictures surfaced earlier this year of a sickly thin 50 Cent, as he had to lose 54 pounds for the role. Can’t get Grammys? Move on to Oscars…

SOUND-SAVVY Says: Nice work 50, but I dare you to make an album this intense…

Here it is!  Curtis & Beanie “Go Off”.  Literally.  Lol @ 50 jabbing at Jay-Z at the end of the track.  Clean and dirty versions after the jump.

VIDEO: 50 Cent ft. Ne-yo – Baby By Me

Posted by Mack On November - 2 - 2009

50 and Kelly look great together in this new video, I’ve always thought she was a very sexy chick. This song is infectious and Ne-yo’s hook totally drives it home. Curtis shows his more mature side and a possible glimpse into his future and gives the ladies a slight taste of what guys think about when we meet “her”. Before I Self-Destruct was set for a November 16 release, but will likely be pushed up due to massive leaks…

50 Cent – Hard Rock (Feat. Ester Dean)

Posted by Mack On September - 19 - 2009

Um, yeah. I’m kind of speechless. This is supposed to follow up Flight 187? After listening to it a few times tho, its quite certain that this Polow Da Don produced track will be HEAVY in the clubs. With that said, be thankful, because this fall when this track plays in the club, and all the drunk white girls are going crazy, you can officially go get it in. See? You gotta think before u jump to conclusions about tracks like this! All jokes aside tho, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this track.

MINDSTREAM TOPIC: Digital Love

Posted by Mack On March - 11 - 2009

Tonight on Mindstream, we discussed the topic of technology and relationships. Is technology affecting our intimate relationships? From a music standpoint, technology has been the driving force behind some of the hottest and most popular songs. So Sound-Savvy gives you it’s countdown of the top 5 “Digital Love” songs.

Artist: Zapp and Roger
Song: Computer Love

This is the song that probably started the whole trend between technology and relationships. It’s definitely one of the most sampled songs in R&B music and became infamous for it’s use of the talk box and voice augmentation similar to the vocoder.

Artist: Soulja Boy feat. Sammie
Song: Kiss Me Thru The Phone

It’s a lil childish, and while I’m not a huge fan of Soulja Boy, I respect how he’s always so catchy. This song is about using technology when you can’t be with the one you love to send something as small as a kiss.

Artist: 50 Cent and Justin Timberlake
Song: Ayo Technology

This next joint keeps it real. Sometimes technology is good and serves its purpose when distance is the issue, but sometimes you get tired of it and need some one-to-one contact. 50 Cent and Justin Timberlake came together over a crazy Timbaland beat to deliver this joint.

Artist: Usher
Song: Dot Com (previously unreleased)

This is an unreleased track from this Usher’s 8701 album and it’s very metaphoric. It discusses the trend of cyber sex and how it can be an intimate turn-on. CyberSex is taboo to a lot of people, but Usher doesn’t hold back with his desires, and let it be known, this isn’t the only song he’s made about cyber sex.

Artist: Raheem Devaughn
Song: Text Messages

I particularly like this song because everyone who has a cell phone today can relate to this joint. Raheem Devaughn explores the new trend of “sexting” which is sending sexy messages through SMS or texting. He even gives you some ideas on what to say. Reppin the DMV, the neo-soul hippie rockstar did his thing with this joint!.

50 Cent feat. R. Kelly – Do What It Do

Posted by Mack On February - 22 - 2009

Why does this song sound like a rap remix to Sensual Seduction? And Kellz is really losing his relevance for me. This track sounds like a meshing of things that have already been done. Not impressed in the least by this track. Kellz can do better. 50? Ehh… maybe not so much.
