Floetry’s singing half Marsha Ambrosius is set to release her solo debut, Late Nights & Early Mornings, at the end of June. A lead single is expected to drop in mid April, and the album features production from Just Blaze, Dre & Vidal, but Ambrosius produced the majority of the disc herself.

With the break-up of Floetry now behind her, Ambrosius described the project as a journey in self-discovery.

“This is like an adventure to me. I got to discover who I am as an artist and what I want versus what people expect of me,” Ambrosius told VIBE. “It was like, what do I really have to say and what do I really mean? There’s no room for error. The journey of defining who I am has been joyous. Oh my goodness, I’m a grown woman now! I thought I was a grown woman when I got out here at 22. I’m about to be 33 in August. I’m like 10 years ago I thought I knew everything. 10 years later I say I knew nothing. So I ran with that confidence.”. . . READ THE REST ON VIBE.COM!

Wale ft. Marsha Ambrosius – Diary

Not the version that appears on Attention Deficit, this is a more acoustic, less-heavy re-working produced by the Sleepwalkers. Definitely one of the better tracks on the album… check it

Mixtape Download: The Best of Marsha Ambrosius

Former Floetry Songstress Marsha Ambrosius drops her latest mixtape The Best of Marsha Ambrosius Vol. 1, which features her absolute best hits since she arrived on the scene, including Getting Late, Butterflies and Say Yes.

So Nas has revisited his ‘96 hit If I Ruled The World, first made popular with Lauryn Hill on the hook. This version is more updated, with dreams now realized due to recent achievements (i.e. Obama’s win, etc.) However, I don’t think this one can touch the original. If he wanted to update the song, he shouldn’t have changed so much – Lauryn Hill should have remained on the hook (which would have been a great comeback opportunity for her), the beat should have been more similar to the original, and I really feel like he covered so much more content in his original version and this one is rather limited. Sorry Nas, I’m not feelin this update…

Mixtape Review: Marsha Ambrosius – Yours Truly

Posted by Mack On January - 7 - 2009

Artist: Marsha Ambrosius
Album: Don Cannon Presents Marsha Ambrosius – Yours Truly
Release Date: 12/2008

If I could bundle up a gift and give it to all my readers out there, it would be Yours Truly… Not me, (see… some of ya’ll nasty!) but I’m talking about that songstress chick that dropped a mixtape that’s so hot it blazed my platinum headphones!! There is only one reason for this mixtape to be SO SICK, and her name is Marsha Ambrosius. You probably know her as one half of Floetry, and if you’re as savvy as you should be, you’ll know that her writing skills are beyond amazing, which is why she’s apart of the chart-topping KnightWritaz team with Mario, Oak and Sterling Simms.

A few years ago, following the success of Floetry’s last album, Marsha inked a deal with hip-hop legend Dr. Dre to release a solo album – but don’t call it a breakup, she’s just doin’ her thing right now. Yours Truly is a shining testament of her individual talent, highlighted by her sultry sexy voice, and her ability to flip notes over the hardest hip-hop beats. I consider this joint to be a banger start-to-finish but special highlights on this joint include Sunshine featuring Little Brother, Dat Shit with Busta Rhymes (FIRE!!), Forget About You, Impossible and Take Care. The joint that’s been getting the most play is Co-Star which was rumored to be her album’s title, but anything’s possible. For the fans of her slower work with Floetry like Sometimes You Make Me Smile, you’ll wanna check for the interlude Some Type of Way.

What I really love about this joint is how raw it is and how much energy it channels. She’s got one of the sweetest voices of our era, but yet she rattles off some of the hardest lines with such natural swag. 2009 should see the release (finally) of her actual album, but I swear if this mixtape was on shelves, it might break some records! Right now, it seems that her camp is remaining rather tight-lipped about the album, its release date, title, and any confirmed tracks. If you loved her work with Floetry, or even if you didn’t, now is the time to reacquaint yourself with the songstress, Marsha Ambrosius. Trust me, this joint DELIVERS!

And here’s a link from the homie BShepJr so you can make this joint yours…truly…

This joint gets 4.5 out of 5 platinum headphones.
