112 - In Parts

I don't know about ya'll but I think the best thing about 112 was that they were a group; you never got too much of any one voice. Now it seems they're all doing what groups do these days - taking on solo projects. WHY?!?!?! I'm a firm believer in the old adage "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Sure, 112's last few albums weren't the greatest (Nothing tops their first 2!!) but the formula wasn't totally broken. The last album, Pleasure and Pain was nothing stellar, but it was aight. So anyway, now we find ourselves here, with 2 solo albums on the brink of release: Love's Crazy by Slim and Real Talk by Q. Now honestly, if I had to listen to a full solo album from anyone from the group it would be Q. His voice is the most bearable by itself. But can you really look forward to a whole solo album from Slim? His voice got painfully annoying on a few of the 112 CD's so I just don't think I can hear that high pitched squeal for more than 4 minutes at a time, but I am a fan of 112, so when it drops, I'll give it a spin. For now, check out these two tracks from the fellas and pray for the best. Oh, and is it just me or is Slim not lookin too slim anymore??

  1. LOL @ high pitched squealing. I agree 112 as a group was dominating on the R&B scene, but it seems like groups now exist only to highlight a few members and then those members go solo. Both songs are ok to me but nothing remarkable, I do wish the brothas the best though and Slim is looking a lil Trick Daddy in the face now. He must be eating well !

  2. Sane Said,

Ok see now THIS is why I eff with y'all over here. I couldn't agree with you MORE @ Mack. I do like Slim's new singles I heard on Youtube but an entire album with him "oh-hooooin'", I don't think so. I've had the pleasure of seein' 112 live in concert 3 times before they broke up and all 4 of them boys had vocals. They were totally different as, say Jagged Edge, where every song they did was selfishly lead by them damn twins. I truly wish 112 would have stayed together but they're formula was best when they were following Puffy's direction, even though that ended with them bitter and neglected. Good post, Mack!

  3. Eb the Celeb Said,

yeah I like them better together... Daron was the first one trying to do the solo thing and it didn't work... and even though Slim is getting a buzx with that single... he wont be able to sell a full album alone
