Throwback Thursday: Who Remembers Monifah?

Shouts to all the folks who joined in the chat last night on Mindstream World during the show. You guys inspired this post...
Monifah's career in the R&B industry was rather short-lived, which isn't hard to believe when you think about the other acts that Heavy D discovered. Her first album though, Moods...Moments, is a Sound-Savvy certified CLASSIC!! I still play cuts off this album to this day and it's almost 13 years old!! I Miss You (Come Back Home) was the lead single and featured Heavy D (AZ on the remix), who produced most of the album....
An expressive, yet sentimental slow jam, You was an excellent choice for the second single. Other personal favorites on the album include You Don't Have To Love Me, You Should Have Told Me and You've Got My Heart. As a special "bonus" Monifah joined with the Boys Choir of Harlem for a stirring cover of Lionel Richie's gospel classic, Jesus Is Love - and it's still the best version of that song I've heard to date.

Moods...Moments
is an essential, must-have album for anyone who's a fan of R&B music. The music wasn't made to fit the 90's, and it's content is still very relevant while it's sound has transcended all of music's changing trends. I wish she would come back and give us some more good music! Til then, enjoy these videos...
