Maxwell - Pretty Wings

Posted by Mack of Sound-Savvy On 10:29 PM

First, I want to apologize to everyone for my unannounced hiatus. I didn't realize my recent travels would keep me away from Sound-Savvy as long as it did, but thanks to my homie bshepjr for holdin the spot down as always. But on the flipside, I've got some great reviews comin up for ya, including a review of a very special show so stay tuned...

However, while we're on the subject of hiatuses, this is an appropriate way to get back on my biz! If you're going to take 8 years off and then stage a comeback, this is how you do it. Not departing from his signature style by much, Maxwell re-emerges with what I'd consider phoenix wings, but he insists they're Pretty Wings, the first single from his 4th studio album, Black Summers' Night. This project is said to be a trilogy of albums, released over three years, and each bearing the title of a word from the collective name (Black, Summers and Night). Pretty Wings is the first single from Black, the first of the three releases, due out July 7th. I'm especially feeling the mellow groove of this song and the horns add a nice touch of class. This is the new age of grown folks music...
