Jordin Sparks vs. Fefe Dobson - Who Sang It Better?

Posted by Mack of Sound-Savvy On 11:00 AM

For her latest album, Battlefield, Jordin Sparks recorded a cover of Don't Let It Go To Your Head, a rock song originally recorded by edgy punk rocker Fefe Dobson on her Sunday Love album. Personally I like Jordin's version better, the balladry brings the song to life the way it needs, putting more emphasis on vocals as opposed to the instrumentals. But as a rock song, Fefe Dobson does it major justice! Which do you prefer?

I actually enjoy listening to both however; I love Jordin Sparks voice so I vote for Jordin singing it better....I just love this girl!! I love her new album she has at least 8 strong hits I would say! I just read "Battlefield" Single has now went GOLD selling 544,000 copies to date. Love you Ms. Sparks!

I think Fefe's version is the clear winner. I'm a fan of Jordin's voice but she just doesn't have the spirit to do the song justice, especially with the choice to sing it as a ballad. Fefe's version is a snarling anthem to self-doubt and self-defense in relationships. You can hear how much she cares and how much it pisses her off that she does. Jordin's version turns the song into a leaky, rambling b-side ballad. She doesn't sound fierce and vulnerable--she sounds like a 13-year-old girl twisting her toe in the carpet and singing out of the corner of her mouth.

Fefe clearly song it better hands down! I was ready to pay the cd before and after her label dropped her! I would buy today if I knew where!
