Back in 2001 when Destiny’s Child finally stopped making roster changes they released a Christmas album, 8 Days of Christmas, and it’s actually really good. It had to grow on me initially, but it quickly became one of my favorite albums of the holiday season. The ladies of DC3 took a nice approach to this album by mixing a blend of their pop-heavy original Christmas-themed music with traditional Christmas carols. Some of the classics, however, were not group numbers; instead each member (including Solange) took one of their favorites and gave it their own rendition. Also included is a Christmas medley of other traditional Christmas carols sung by the entire group. Highlights are Kelly's rendition of Do You Hear What I Hear, Opera of the Bells which includes some amazing harmonies, and the title track 8 Days of Christmas. This one definitely has some cuts worthy of mixing into your holiday party soundtrack.
