Aight, so all the rumors were true: Lil Wayne is gearing up to release his first rock album, The Rebirth on April 7th. Here's the first single, Prom Queen, set to be released on January 27. This joint sounds pretty decent to me, I think Weezy has the type of style that fits well in the rock genre. Beyond that, I think it's a smart move for his career. There's a lot of pressure for his next hip-hop release to surpass Tha Carter III in sales so switching genres is a smart way to get around it. I'm confident that The Rebirth will do well, Weezy's already crossed over with his major hits like Lollipop, which appealed to the masses. Now he's just firmly planting a foot in a new genre. I would like to hear some better content in his next rock single though...
