REMIX: Robin Thicke ft. Ludacris - Sex Therapy

Ludacris blazes this remix but, then again, doesn't Luda blaze everything? Robin Thicke's Sex Therapy album is in stores now and while it doesn't include this version, Luda does the damn thing anyway! *Denzel voice* My man...

Robin Thicke ft. Kid Cudi - Elevatas

Clearly Robin Thicke pulled out all the stops with the Sex Therapy album and Cudi's been making his rounds on the feature circuit. Elevatas is yet another nice hit record from Thicke who's new album is shaping up to be something good... REAL good. I must admit, I wasn't too keen on the last album, but I've got a better feeling about this one. Come on Robin, don't let me down... Sex Therapy and the deluxe edition Sex Therapy: The Experience in stores December 15

R. Kelly - Pregnant (Feat. Tyrese, Robin Thicke & The Dream)

Never did I ever imagine that the art of the woo would come down to expressing the desire to drop a seed in a dimepiece. The lineup on this track makes it an all-star R&B hit, and it WILL appear on his forthcoming Untitled album, releasing December 1st.

VIDEO: Robin Thicke - Sex Therapy

Robin Thicke has a serious penchant for sexy videos and this one is no exception to the rule. Thicke serves up a prescription of Sex Therapy in this clip, full of sensuality sending your imagination on a naughty little trip. His new album Sex Therapy is set to hit stores December 15 and if it's anything like this video, it's sure to please...

NEW JOINT: Robin Thicke feat. Jay-Z - Meiplé (Me I Play)

Sounds like Robin Thicke has another hit on his hands teaming up with Jay-Z for Meiple. The title is a catchy play on words and so is the rest of the song. And who else to bless this record but the best in the game, Mr. Empire State himself, Jay-Z. It's clear that Mr. Thicke ain't holdin back on this new album Sex Therapy, set to hit stores December 8.

NOTE: I don't normally post Radio Rips, but this joint is so hot I had to share it. Check back for this post to be updated with the CDQ when it becomes available.

Damn... beautiful women everywhere in this video... Lay Back is the latest in a long line of singles from Ross' third studio album entitled Deeper Than Rap. Nice vocals by Mr. Thicke as well...

Robin Thicke - Sex Therapy

Robin Thicke's back with another banger. I swear every time this dude comes out with a new project, the songs are impeccable. This one right here doesn't disappoint. Here's the first single from his upcoming album. Certified baby making music. Produced by Polow Da Don.

Video: Robin Thicke - Dreamworld

What I love most about Dreamworld is the realness of it. Just listening to the bluesy instrumental transports me back to the glory days of Motown. Beyond that, the lyrics are like a page right out of Thicke's own life. You can hear this track on his latest album, Something Else. Initially I wasn't feelin' this song when I heard his album, but there's an intimacy to this video that brings the whole concept to life, and the performance clips seem very genuine so it's grown on me. Check it...

Justin Timberlake vs. Robin Thicke - Who's Really Got The 'Magic'?

Two talented artists, one song title. Robin Thicke's recording appears on his last album, Something Else, which overall was less than impressive. Justin Timberlake's is as yet unreleased but is rumored to be a track on his next album. While both songs are noteworthy for their respective reasons, Sound-Savvy asks the question: Whose Magic is better?

Review: Robin Thicke - Something Else

Artist: Robin Thicke
Album: Something Else
Release Date: 9.30.08

Old folks cling to the following adage: Lightning doesn't strike the same place twice. I say it does, it just doesn't make the same impact. Take for example Robin Thicke, who has just released his third album entitled Something Else. I expected this album to feel and sound the same as it's predecessor, The Evolution of Robin Thicke which was undeniably hot, start to finish. However, I can't get with this new project. It has a similar sound, and Thicke's blazing falsetto is still present in his new work, but the album just doesn't flow as well as the last one did. I wouldn't say there's a lack of variety, just a lack of good variety and it is really just an overall letdown. On the last album he was able to try different things and make them work, on this one his attempts at stepping outside the realm of balladry and R&B seemed fewer and less effective. Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed.

Let me start by saying that this isn't a completely bad album. I'd say about half of the tracks are pretty good. His lead single Magic got some pretty decent spins and is a nice re-introduction to the successor of Jon B (pardon me, I had to laugh at that). Other highlights include the sensual Loverman, the upbeat two-stepper Sidestep, and the emotionally expressive The Sweetest Love (Mack's choice) on which the purity of Thicke's natural range mixes with his far-reaching falsetto to create an amazing song that's reminiscent of classic Stevie at times. There's a soothing guitar melody on Cry No More that backs Thicke's vocals with a great mesh and Lil Wayne is back in the mix on the politically charged album closer Tie My Hands: "You tie my hands, what am I gonna be? What have I done so bad, what is my destiny?"

Now for the bad: I'm really not feeling the title track; it sounds like a bad attempt at a style that's already been mimicked too much and the hook just falls flat. Dreamworld fails for me in the lyrics, it just lacks the creativity that I'm used to from Mr. Thicke. Shadow of Doubt is by far the weakest track and gave me 3 minutes and 27 seconds of WTF... soooo not feelin' that. Another "just aight" track is Ms. Harmony, which would probably sound a little better if it didn't sound like a remixed Lost Without U - nothing new there.

Even in its great moments, this album fails to deliver as surely as it's predecessor. Lightning may have struck in on a few tracks, but this album is far from a classic. It actually made me revisit some of my favorites from Evolution like I Need Love, Would That Make You Love Me and Shooter (w/ Lil Wayne). Let me just throw in that I was less than impressed with Robin Thicke's live show while he was on tour last summer with Beyonce, but I think that had more to do with his inability to entertain such a large venue. He's better in a smaller, more intimate setting, with less of a "pop" crowd, so maybe this tour with Mary J. Blige will be better (if they can get the ticket sales up). As for Something Else, I'll take what I want off here and scrap the rest, it's not an album worth keeping in rotation, even if it does have a few good songs here and there.

He's got that MAGIC touch!!!

Ladies & Gentleman, the wait is over. As an avid fan of great music, you have to love Robin Thicke & his artistry. Not to mention, he has LOTS of soul. Here at Sound-Savvy, we keep our fans up to speed with what's hot. Check out the video for Magic off Thicke's upcoming album Something Else. A great video that fits an even greater artist!

The Magic is Working

Artist: Robin Thicke
Song: Magic
Album: Something Else

I've been hearing this joint for a while now and wanted to pass it on. It's the new single from Robin Thicke, Magic, and it's off his upcoming third album Something Else. He's still got that smooth signature falsetto, the grown and sexy lyrics, and the level of the production shows maturity with this new project. In short, he's still got the magic...
