Beanie Sigel - Think Big

If you recall earlier, Mack posted the "How Can I Kill Jigga Man" track, dissing Jay-Z.  Here's the other one he dropped.  Mostly bars, but the shots to Bleek & Mr. Carter are there.

NEW JOINT: Robin Thicke feat. Jay-Z - Meiplé (Me I Play)

Sounds like Robin Thicke has another hit on his hands teaming up with Jay-Z for Meiple. The title is a catchy play on words and so is the rest of the song. And who else to bless this record but the best in the game, Mr. Empire State himself, Jay-Z. It's clear that Mr. Thicke ain't holdin back on this new album Sex Therapy, set to hit stores December 8.

NOTE: I don't normally post Radio Rips, but this joint is so hot I had to share it. Check back for this post to be updated with the CDQ when it becomes available.

UPDATED: Meiplé featuring Jay-Z [CDQ]

Music Video: Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind

After quite a few sneak previews of the video, we finally get the clip for NYC's new anthem. Great video, there's an underlying message of progression in the song that's reflected just as well in the video. If you didn't get it, watch again. This song is enough to make ANYONE feel proud, even if you're not from NYC. Take a look, enjoy...

VMA Recap: Jay-Z and Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind

And in the 'sitchoassdown' moment of the night, Lil Mama interrupted this epic performance of Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z with Alicia Keys by waltzing her uninvited ass onto the stage. Jay-Z's response: "So you're T-Paining now, huh?", a reference to T-Pain's uninvited appearance on stage during Jay-Z's Hot 97 Summer Jam set. Prior to Lil Mama's bad etiquette this performance was amazing, Alicia Keys looked and sounded great and Jay-Z was truly on his A-Game here. EPIC song, EPIC performance.

Kanye's Apology for his VMA Kantrum + Performs Live on Leno

Soooo... by now we all know about the latest Kantrum on the VMA's: Kanye West robbed Taylor Swift of her shine by taking the mic in the middle of her acceptance speech and declaring Beyonce as the more deserving winner for Best Female Video. Tonight, he took to the stage on Jay Leno's new show flanking Jay-Z and Rihanna for a performance of their smash hit Run This Town, but decided to take a few minutes to sit down with Leno and apologize to Taylor Swift.
I won't call this a publicity stunt, I won't say it wasn't genuine, I won't even applaud Leno for the gut punch. I do, however think Kanye needs a moment of clarity: he's dealt with a lot in his personal life. Or maybe that's the problem, maybe he hasn't dealt with it. Either way, this needs to stop.

Video: Jay-Z Answer The Call At MSG

In case you didn't go, or if you didn't check it out on FUSE last night. Hov and company (Jay-Z, John Mayer, KiD CuDi, Rihanna, Kanye West, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, Mary J. Blige) ROCKED MSG last night at the Answer The Call concert. View the whole performance below! Shouts out to Dre for the embeds.

Album Review: Jay-Z - The Blueprint III

N*ggas make the same shit. Me, I make the Blue Print…

Artist: Jay-Z
Album: The Blueprint III
Release Date: 9.11.09

The Good: What We Talkin Bout is the opener and perfect introduction to the album, separating Jay-Z’s artistic depth from his surface-level counterparts and setting the tone for everything that follows. Critics and detractors of this album will say things like “Jay-Z has nothing new to say” or “The beats could have been better”. To quell that, I offer this: check out Jay-Z’s evolution as a man and an artist laid out perfectly on Off That (featuring Drake) and On To the Next One (featuring Swizz Beatz). Mr. Carter makes it known that he’s already done what’s being done right now and that’s what puts him ahead of the competition and in a class all his own. If your focus for listening to this album is the beats and production, you’ve clearly missed the point: check the album cover, and start again. Think of Empire State of Mind as Jay’s answer to Jeezy’s Put On - so much more than today’s typical flashy tracks, he shows love for his city while still acknowledging the struggle. Musically, Real As It Gets (featuring Young Jeezy) has a triumphant synth keyboard line that sounds very regal. Take note to how the notion of hip-hop beef is put to death on A Star Is Born. There’s an unprecedented amount of love on this track for the other heroes of the game and it’s only reinforced by the amount of love Jay showed in the features for his own project. Not only does he recap the best in the game on this song, but he uses this album to set up slots for the best newcomers to showcase their talent and prepare the hip-hop world for a revolution (including a hot standout verse from rising star J. Cole). There’s a respectable craftiness as Jay addresses his haters on Already Home (featuring Kid Cudi) and Hate (featuring Kanye West). Lyrically, Jay-Z is as adept as ever, as proven in his lighthearted wittiness on Thank You, his mastery of metaphors on Venus vs. Mars and his blunt delivery on the singles D.O.A. and Run This Town.

The Bad: For all it’s greatness, The Blueprint III is not flawless. Although the sample on Young Forever is great, lyrically I was not impressed with Jay’s delivery on this track and it’s one of the cuts that does disappoint. Likewise, Reminder was not really memorable – by this point in the album it’s like beating a dead horse, just using a more blunt object this time around.

The Bottom Line: Now here’s a project that’s deeper than rap: I present to you The Blueprint III. This is an album about progression, success and succession. It’s undeniable that Jay-Z is the best in the game, but there's an air of torch passing here as well. The features on this album seem to have been carefully selected and are a reflection of the future of hip-hop. This album is a game-changer, a challenge to all rappers and artists to return hip-hop to it’s origins and go back to creating MUSIC. The songs aren’t built around the hooks; rather, the hooks are built around the message that the song delivers. The first step to re-building something is to create a blueprint. Consider that first step taken.

Sound-Savvy rates The Blueprint III with 4.5 out of 5 platinum headphones.

Jay-Z feat. Drake - Off That

Here's a sneak leak from Jay-Z's forthcoming The Blueprint 3 album, due out on 9/11. Hov and Drizzy spit hard over one of Timbaland's finest beats. Nothing out right now that sounds like this. The beat bangs, Jay-Z spits and Drake holds down the hook... the takeover continues...

Video Premiere: Jay-Z ft. Kanye and Rihanna - RUN THIS TOWN

Here it is!! No disappoinments here... Jay-Z, Kanye, Rihanna... HOTNESS!!! Out of chaos, there has to rise a new class of leadership... Hip-hop: the revolution is here...

Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 Tracklisting/Album Cover

Normally, I don't do tracklistings/album covers without a song to accompany, but this time I couldn't resist. I'm impressed with Hov's stance as 'big brother' in the game. Many of Hov's detractors would argue that he reserves the spotlight for himself, but I invite you to take a look at the features on this new album. Check out the new artists he's chosen to include: Drake, J Cole, Mr. Hudson, Luke Steele, Drake. Jay-Z's public endorsement of such high-caliber new artists speaks greatly of his ability to not only pass the torch, but choose his successors wisely. Big ups to big brother Hov, this is what hip-hop needs.

Video: Fabolous - Money Goes, Honey Stay

Fabolous is certainly keeping the momentum going for his new album Loso's Way. Money Goes, Honey Stay marks video #4 from the album, and it remixes Jay-Z's When The Money Goes. Hov even makes a guest appearance in the clip which follows closely with the songs lyrics involving trust, betrayal and relationships.

Jay-Z feat. Kanye West and Rihanna - Run This Town

Aight Jay-Z, I'm feelin this new joint - no auto-tune on Rihanna's vocals! I gotta keep it honest... Kanye outshines Jay on this track by far; not that Jay didn't deliver, but Kanye got him on this joint. Run This Town is the latest cut off Jay's forthcoming BluePrint 3 LP. RocNation is back, pledge your allegiance, it's an all black takeover, and Jay takes the lead on the revolution. Diamonds in the sky...

Video: Jay-Z - Death Of Auto-Tune

Jay-Z decided to have a funeral of his own following the BET Awards, this time for the widely over-used voice augmentation device known as the Autotune. Check out the video here:

MINDSTREAM TOPIC: Are you ready to get MARRIED?

Contrary to popular belief, kneeling down on one knee with a diamond ring in a velvet box does not make a person ready to get married. In recent years, divorce rates have skyrocketed and marriages have failed because many people were simply not ready to make the commitment. With Valentine's Day coming up, some of you may be contemplating popping the big question, or maybe you already have and you're having second thoughts. Here's some musical inspiration to help you think things through and see the big picture, then ask yourself, are you ready to get married? (covered in the 1.28.09 Sound-Savvy Report on Mindstream Radio)

5. When it’s really love, it won't be about the money, the flashy lifestyle or any amount of material wealth. You gotta know that if the bank runs low, your baby’s still gonna be there holdin you down. Marriage vows say for richer or for poorer. That’s why the #5 song is the new leaked track from Jay-Z, When The Money Goes from the forthcoming Blueprint 3 album.

4. Love is about doing things together, sharing the good times and makin it through the hard times. Regardless of what happens or what people say, marriage is about getting through it all together. On their debut album, the brothers of Day 26 asked the question, Are We In This Together?

3. How do you know you’re in love? When your every waking thought is of that special someone, that’s a sure sign that you’re in love. Some say it's like a drug or a bad habit, Vivian Green calls it being a Fanatic, and that’s the #3 song.
2. How do you know you’re ready for love? When you’re not just expecting your partner to be there for you, but you’re also expecting to be right there for your partner. The #2 joint reminds us that it’s not just about taking support, it’s about giving support too. Some of the strongest words you can say to the one you love were brought to us by SWV: "love will be Right Here".

1. Finally you’ve gotta know it’s love. Love is about accepting the good and the bad of the other person, overlooking the flaws for the beauty of the person inside. No amount of distance, or separation, and no dissension can tear apart the solid bond that love creates. No one puts that feeling into words better than Kelly Rowland with her song This Is Love from her sophomore album Ms. Kelly.

New Music from Jay-Z: When The Money Goes

When The Money Goes is a leaked track from Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 album, which has been reportedly leaked around the net. While I have yet to hear the album, this track is classic Jay, great lyric game and all. Blueprint 3 is expected to be available in stores next month, but let's hope this leak doesn't cause too many pushbacks on it.

New Music: Jay-Z - My President Is Black Remix

Inauguration Day is here and EVERYONE is celebrating including Jay-Z with his own mix to Jeezy's anthem My President Is Black. Check it out...

New Ludacris with Nas AND Jay-Z: I Do It For Hip-Hop

Is there really a better reason to do it? 3 of the hottest rappers on one blazing track... I Do It For Hip Hop is the latest from Luda's forthcoming album Theater of the Mind, due out on November 25. I've always respected Luda as a lyricist and a rapper and this track is just one of the reasons why. A lot of these new rappers need to hear this and really consider the reason they're doing music -- better yet, everyone should listen to this, no matter what you do. If you're doing anything for the money, or the fame or the superficial reasons, then your foundation isn't solid and it's sure to fall through eventually. But when you fully commit yourself to an art, if you do it for the love of the craft then success is both inevitable and immeasurable... chew on that.

Swagger Like Us

Here's yet another song (pretty soon you'll have the whole album, right) from T.I.'s upcoming album Paper Trail. This joint features an all-star hip hop lineup of the greatest in the game, the only one missing is Ludacris, so let's hope for a remix!! Hot song? I vote YES!!
